We believe in a highly performing workplace culture that promotes an inclusive, safe and productive work environment where all employees are supported, valued for their contributions and free from all forms of discrimination.
Our Workforce
We take a strategic approach to attracting, retaining and developing our employees, combining annual talent reviews and succession planning as essential elements of workforce planning.
We work to maintain an open and supportive work environment where business results are achieved through the skills, abilities and talents of our workforce. As of December 31, 2023, we had 8,827 employees company-wide.
Governance and Oversight
CenterPoint Energy’s Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors reviews and monitors the company’s compensation policies and practices, human capital management and succession planning.
Our Human Resources organization, with oversight from our Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, leads our company-wide engagement and performance culture, along with development discussions.

Talent Management and Retention
At CenterPoint Energy, talent management consists of a strategic and intentional approach to assist employees and leaders with employee engagement, team management and workplace culture. Our formal performance management process includes setting annual goals that foster a high standard of performance and align with each organization’s goals and objectives, supplemented by continuous feedback between employees and leaders and a performance review. In 2023, 100% of eligible employees received a performance evaluation.
For business continuity and to identify the future leaders of our company, we invest in employee development to align performance to business needs, drive development planning and contribute to career progression. Opportunities are available for employees to develop skills throughout all phases of their career, including professional development resources, technical skills training and leadership development programs. Our processes and progress are reviewed annually to consider additional enhancements to drive our goal of continuous improvement.
Recruiting
Our Talent Acquisition team is at the forefront of the company’s efforts to create a highly skilled workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Through our recruiting process, we support best practices for attracting and retaining a workforce that represents the best of the communities we serve. As part of this effort, we actively recruit and hire veterans and individuals with disabilities.
With an eye toward the future, we actively promote CenterPoint Energy on college campuses to create awareness of our offerings to engineering, finance and technical occupations. Our College Recruiting program maintains relationships with student organizations at many of the institutions throughout our footprint, providing opportunities to engage with numerous colleges, universities and trade schools across the states we have the privilege to serve to recruit students as they plan for new jobs and career opportunities in our industry.
